How long does it take to remortgage?

In some cases, we have seen the lender take only a few days to issue a mortgage offer for remortgage applications where the property is valued by a desktop survey and where no further documentation requests are made because the lender is happy with the documentation provided.

Remortgage Solicitors

When remortgaging to a new lender you will need to involve a conveyancing service or solicitor. Often this service will be provided as part of the remortgage deal with the mortgage lender. Sometimes you will need to appoint your own legal conveyancer and the lender will offer cashback instead.

The appointed solicitors are responsible for completing the remortgage process and we always advise that you regularly chase them to ensure a timely completion. As the solicitor is a third party, we will not always be kept updated with the progress. You must ensure that you respond to them as quickly as possible with any documentation that they request from you.

If you want a quick turnaround, the best advice that we can give you is to be ready and responsive to send us any additional information or documentation that the lender might require to support your application.
Lender timescales for reviewing documents and service levels can change at any time, even after a mortgage application has been submitted.
